LOOKING TO HIRE SKILLED WORKERS
Skilled workers are increasingly difficult to find across many sectors. At the same time, regulations around permits, employment structures and compliance continue to evolve.
Workgate supports employers by organising the legal and administrative processes required for skilled workers to work correctly and compliantly in the Netherlands and selected parts of Europe.
Workgate is not a staffing or recruitment agency. Workers are not supplied or outsourced. Instead, Workgate structures the full process around permits, registrations and practical requirements, allowing skilled workers to start working in a lawful and sustainable way.
Language and communication
Not all skilled workers speak Dutch. In some cases, English may also be limited. Please be aware of this when onboarding a new worker.
Where needed, Workgate will try to support communication during the first working week, for example by attending an initial meeting or introduction.
If language barriers arise, the worker can always contact Workgate for support or clarification when translation assistance is required.
This approach helps ensure a smooth start while allowing both employer and worker to adapt gradually.
For which roles
Support is possible across a wide range of professions.
Skilled workers can be considered for virtually any trade or technical role.
Let us know which type of worker you are looking for. We are happy to review the situation and explore the available options together.
Employment or self-employed (ZZP)
Depending on the situation and applicable regulations, skilled workers can work in different structures.
Paid employment
Workers may enter paid employment with an employer in the Netherlands, provided all legal requirements are met.
Self-employed (ZZP)
In certain cases, workers are registered as self-employed within another EU country and work on an invoicing basis. This depends on the country issuing the permit and the applicable regulations.
Workgate can support with:
- assessing which structure is legally possible
- coordinating registrations and required documentation
- explaining invoicing and administrative obligations
- supporting monthly invoicing if requested
- assisting in case of payment delays or disputes
How it works
Step 1 – Contact
Get in touch and let us know what kind of skilled worker you are looking for.
Step 2 – Assessment
We review the situation and determine which legal and practical routes are available.
Step 3 – Clear process and costs
The process, timeline and costs are explained upfront before any steps are taken.
Step 4 – Coordination
After agreement, Workgate coordinates the process and remains involved to ensure clarity and continuity.
Fees and transparency
For employers, Workgate applies a fixed fee or percentage per worker.
Fees are not country-based and are clearly explained in advance.
The same fee structure applies to every employer.
No individual or special pricing arrangements are made. This ensures transparency and equal treatment.
Required certificates and qualifications
Before starting a trajectory, we ask whether specific certificates or qualifications are required for the role, such as:
- VCA
- forklift or reach truck certificate
- hygiene or safety certificates
- truck driver qualifications (Code 95)
- other role-specific certifications
If such certificates are required, the associated costs are charged to your organisation.
You are free to arrange these certifications yourself.
If preferred, Workgate can also coordinate this process on your behalf, reducing administrative workload and saving time.
Additional support
If needed, Workgate can also support skilled workers with practical matters related to working and living in the Netherlands. This contributes to stability and continuity for both worker and employer.
This support is optional and subject to separate fees.
Compliance and regulations
Workers are registered in the country that issues the permit.
Each country applies its own regulations, which are subject to change.
Workgate monitors these changes and keeps employers informed to ensure continued compliance.
