LOOKING FOR WORK
Finding work in the Netherlands or Europe is often more than just finding a job. Permits, regulations and administration can make the process complex. Workgate helps skilled workers navigate this journey in a clear, structured and legally correct way.
Support is available for people already in the Netherlands, for those elsewhere in Europe, and for skilled workers outside the European Union who want to come and work in the Netherlands.
Workgate does not provide jobs. However, there is an active network of employers in the Netherlands who know that Workgate supports and guides skilled workers towards work opportunities. This can result in work in paid employment or through a self-employed (ZZP) structure.
Who this is for?
Support is available for:
- skilled workers already in the Netherlands who need a permit or an extension
- skilled workers outside the EU who want to come to the Netherlands
- skilled workers already in Europe who want to move to the Netherlands
In some situations, working in Belgium or Germany is also possible.
Each situation is assessed individually.
Employment or self-employed (ZZP)
In the Netherlands, work can be done in paid employment with an employer.
In certain cases, it is also possible to register as a self-employed professional (ZZP) within the European Union, depending on the country issuing the permit and its regulations.
When working as a ZZP, payment is based on invoicing.
Workgate can support with:
- registration as a self-employed professional
- guidance on working on an invoice basis
- monthly invoicing support (optional)
- assistance with payment delays or disputes with clients

Costs and payments
Administrative costs always apply.
Other costs may be paid partly in advance and partly afterwards, depending on the process.
Costs for documents, permits or procedures handled by third parties (such as authorities or partners in other EU countries) are outside Workgate’s control and are charged on a one-to-one basis.
All costs are explained clearly in advance.
Fees are fixed per country and apply equally to everyone. No individual or special pricing arrangements are made. This ensures transparency and equal treatment.
Additional support in the Netherlands
Additional support is optional and subject to extra costs.
Payment options:
- per service
- a fixed annual subscription (paid monthly)
After the first year, you can decide whether continued support is still needed.
Costs depend on the type of permit. Some permits are valid for only three or six months. In these cases, staying in contact is important to manage extensions and deadlines.
Possible support includes:
- health insurance
- mandatory liability insurance (WA)
- assistance with finding rental housing (no guarantee)
- support with purchasing a car
- car insurance
- mobile phone subscription
- help with additional forms and applications
Registration always takes place in the country that issues the permit.
Rules differ per country and change regularly. Workgate monitors these changes and keeps track of what this means for your situation.
